Is it offending not to understand a toothless woman's diction?

My girlfriend was totally toothless and stopped wearing her dentures from some moment. She lisped very much and it was hard to understand her speech. She was getting very offended every time I asked her to repeat and sometimes even cried.

Does she like the way she looks without teeth, and do you like the way she looks without her teeth? If the answer to either of these questions is YES, you should try to make her comfortable and try harder to understand her without asking her to repeat. You can also work with her to improve her speech.

@Corsair Yes I like the way she looks without teeth but she is shy sometimes because of her look. You probably know her because she is registered on this site and posted some info about her toothlessness

@and1993 Is she considering getting new dentures which fit? That could help with her speech. She would have the option of wearing dentures or not, whichever she wanted.
