why is the sky blue

There is no 'Sky'
It's just an atmosphere... Sunlight scatters in our atmosphere in all directions, Normally we see it's Blue as in daytime because of smaller waves... In the evening, it looks orange, sometimes more red as the Sun gets lower in straight to our eyesight.
You will find different colors on every planet as the gases and molecules present in the atmosphere. Like orange in the daytime and blue in the evening on certain planet.
