When I wear stockings, I choose ones with seams in the colour I require.
The colour is usually black but may vary depending on my choice of dress.
I do not choose the tops - some are plain, some lacy.
And you are not going to see which it is !
The stocking top needs to be robust to attach the suspender.
However, pretty lingerie does boost a lady's self-confidence, even if it is unseen.

Self-supporting stockings, or Hold-ups, have a tight top.
I tried a pair. The top was lined with rubber and very tight on the thigh.
Not only uncomfortable with the tightness, but they indented the thigh, leaving an effect similar to VPL with tight knickers.
Not for me. I shall stick with suspenders on those few occasions when I wear stockings.
