Willpower: The ability to control one’s actions, emotions or urges.

Who controls their actions better? Women
Who controls their emotions better? Men
Who controls their urges better? Women

Women win 2 - 1 🤯

@Adogslife so girls should have been Men and not boys .. yah ?

@Adogslife Good points, but I disagree.
Actions? Depends on which actions we are talking about. We are just tempted by different things. I would say that one is a tie.
Emotions? Men only win if we forget that anger is an emotion too, I would say that one is also a tie.
Urges? For ever straight man who cheats on a partner, there is a straight woman cheating with him. Tie as well.

@ShadowSister so what is masculine and feminine then?
ShadowSister · 46-50, F
@in10RjFox Masculine and feminine has to do with the social expectations our cultures place around men and women. Not all men are masculine and not all women are feminine. There is probably no one who is 100% masculine or feminine. And those things vary from culture to culture.

I voted that willpower is feminine though. Mostly because I just wanted to feel good about myself. 😁

@ShadowSister so you agree that there is no proper distinction between them and that being the root, the same will apply to all construct above it, such as male female, man woman, father, mother.

Good you accepted that you voted for feminine since you assumed you are female and woman.

So mostly I see that people applying the reverse reasoning as anything of girls is feminine and boys is masculine.

Since females give birth to males , then they are feminine too .. yah ?😆

@in10RjFox Well there are some similarities across cultures. Hormones and other factors cause that. And just because gender expectations are culturally constructed doesn't mean they are arbitrary.

But yes, I am a woman, and being feminine feels empowering to me. I also like to think that I have good will power. So I chose my answer entirely for personal reasons.

@ShadowSister If anyone can choose by their whim and fancy, then it is arbitrary.if it's not arbitrary, then it becomes absurdity. Gender actually comes under theory of relativity. Parents are masculine while children are feminine. Teacher is masculine while student is feminine.

The problem here is that these concepts are infused in school and as a child we just blindly believe and apply.

@in10RjFox Cultural constructions are still real. Language is a cultural construction. But that doesn't mean that we can choose the meanings of words based on whim and fancy. We are socialized into gender the same way we are socialized into our native tongue.
in10RjFox · M
@ShadowSister do you really think you are making any sense? What's the meaning of words you are referring to?

Yes, we were socialised into gender by the past and we followed since we were children and we had no questionable authority. But that doesn't mean we have to blindly follow tradition and refrain from using our brains.

If women claim will power as feminine and men claim will power as masculine, isn't it absurd ?

@in10RjFox So @Adogslife gave a joke answer to a baiting question. I found it interesting and piggybacked an answer. Suddenly the entire subthread got hijacked by an academic discussion of the nuances of gender. I sympathize with his annoyance. If I had realized it was going to turn into an actual discussion, I would have stared a new sub-thread.

I would consider doing so now, but when your reply starts with, "Do you really think you are making any sense?," that's a rhetorical ploy rather than an argument. I don't think you actually want to have a good-faith discussion. I'm going to turn off my notifications for this thread now.

@ShadowSister Actually You should have started a sub-thread then. Questions are for quest of knowledge and for sharing sensible answers. Your know the subject of logic very well, but lack a lot when it comes to replying the question. Compile your various replies and you will know that you just rant words but just unable to make any sense. The idea is to get the question into your head like a bug, and it will work in you. The problem is also your ego, that makes you think you are an expert and know everything. Your flamboyance in language does not translate to sense.
