Men are so weird 😔😣😒🙇🏻‍♀

Papi was a bit perturbed that I didn’t call him when I got a flat tire but I didn’t really see the reason to either. He was at work and by the time he would have got there I would have been done anyways. Same thing if I had called roadside.

He said I need to stop being so independent and let him do that kinda stuff. Like does it really fuck with a man mentality that bad? I asked if it was because I knew how to do it and was capable of doing it or what and he said no it was because I didn’t call when I needed him and i didn’t know how to explain that I didn’t need him to come because I could handle it so I just told him I didn’t want to bother him at work

Now I feel like maybe I’ve been relying on myself too much for too long that I don’t know how to be in a relationship because I didn’t even think to call him. 🤷‍♀😞🙇🏻‍♀

I don't know the situation well enough but based on the limited information that is here this sounds like a red flag to me. Although ,I could be wrong. The part that bothers me is that he said you need to stop being so independent and let him do that kind of stuff.
You're not a little child, you're an adult and are capable of doing things for yourself. If he is just saying that he enjoys helping you (when needed) and that he doesn't want you to feel that you can't/shouldn't ask for help (when needed) that's fine. But, if he really feels that, for some reason, a woman or "his woman" shouldn't be changing car tires and that's "man's work" then that's a red flag.

Have you mentioned how your grandfather made sure you could take care of things like this so you didn't want to ignore his example? But I do think he is scared that you don't want to ever reach out to him when you need help, to your detriment. It is a balance you both will learn, I think. Make it fun, challenge him to a tire changing contest. 😁

You should be able to do it and take care of it. He just wanted you to call him and let him know.

He just wants to make sure you are okay. It's what good men do

Sounds like he's a fixer. But I can't imagine why he'd be upset about that. Give yourself some grace... and he should give you some too.

it's fine no worries .. hopefully he is just trying to be supportive and there for you and not needy demanding
