I have one question regarding all these jobs that Trumpy claims to have created.

How many of the tens of millions of jobs are providing a living wage? No need to be exact. Give or take a few million jobs.

On a side note: You know that person who cleans Trump’s toilet and washes his underwear? How much does he or she get paid?

@SimplyTracie Whatever it is, it's not enough
Reverend · M
@SimplyTracie The fact of the matter is Jobs were created. A person doesn't make the money of someone with a college degree at entry level labor. Wether it were ten jobs or a million jobs that were created isn't really relevant, what is relevant is that all of those people are now employed and able to work.
Lhayezee · 26-30, F
@Reverend But if they're minimum wage ones, how many of those jobs does a person have to work? There's a disconnect between 'numbers of jobs' and 'number in employment'
Reverend · M
@Lhayezee so if they are minimum wage jobs, and because a person cant make a living solely on that job then its worthless? If people want to make more money they can work their way up. A job is a job. I dont look down on anyone no matter how much or little they make.
@Reverend The Democrats condemned Trump's tax law, but it seems to be helping the economy. I guess they can't admit that.
Lhayezee · 26-30, F
@Reverend Who said anything about looking down? I work a minimum wage job (in England, it's all different lol) - well part time, being a student.

My point was that if say 10 million jobs have been created, that doesn't mean 10 million more people now have jobs.
Reverend · M
@Lhayezee but it does mean 10 million people are working at 10 million jobs that wasn't previously available. Lol. To me, it doesn't matter the number exactly its more about the opportunity. It may be a job that makes the bare minimum, but it may be that bare minimum job that makes it possible for one to live. The reason why I mentioned looking down on someone for that type of job is because I know a lot of people that would rather not work and get welfare vs taking a minimum wage job. (Speaking of here in the U.S)
Reverend · M
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays It makes no difference what Trump does, he will be ridiculed by them.
Lhayezee · 26-30, F
@Reverend Oh I see what you mean about looking down. I agree. There is something of that problem here too. (The last government to its credit tried to reform the welfare system to solve it, and then predictably made a horrible mess).

If a min wage job means one is only earning half the amount you need to live on - you either need benefits (which you may not be qualified any more for, since you're working), or a second job. So out of the 10 million new jobs, one person has just taken two of them.

Are all these jobs (I've no idea the actual figures btw I picked 10M as it was easy lol) full-time jobs? That's the 2nd question.
@Reverend But what is transparent about the criticism is that they ridicule and criticize every little insignificant thing he does. If he just has a totally innocent slip of the tongue, CNN will talk about it endlessly.
Reverend · M
@Lhayezee Right. Yeah i have no idea on number wither. Im willing to bet that a lot of them are part time jobs. I know exactly what you're saying. It may take 2 people of the same family working two of each of those jobs, which isn't uncommon. I guess all I see is the availability of work for those who do want to work.
Lhayezee · 26-30, F
@Reverend I'm not saying that X million jobs isn't a good thing, obviously!
Reverend · M
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays Its there job to feed the sheeple! They gobble it up. Lol. They make it significant and people love it.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Reverend I did read an article in a Texas newspaper claiming that hundreds of thousands of jobs are available but at $7.25/hr people still can’t feed their families.

Kudos to Trump but I don’t know if I’d be bragging about that.
Reverend · M
@SimplyTracie So its better off not to have those jobs because they dont pay enough? How much money thousands of jobs pump out at 7.25 an hour? I can't be ungrateful because the job dosen't pay what it takes for a person to live. If it ever comes to the point where minimum wage pays all the bills, we will be in major trouble. Billions of businesses would shut down and only the top business would survive.

Jeff Bezos thanked Trump for the Tax Reform Bill be signed. Yay!
It has allowed Amazon to hire thousands and thousands and thousands of new employees.

I shop at Amazon, so again, kudos to Trump for making Amazon one of the largest companies in America 🇺🇸.
And Amazon gracefully pays their employees a minimum $15/hr. Yay 😃
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Reverend You should be grateful for anything Trump gives you. Be grateful for anything anyone gives you.

However, if I needed help and you gave me help or food or a job, should you go around bragging that you gave me food or a job or anything for that matter? Should you?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Reverend Big businesses dominate and that’s capitalism. Small business that cannot compete shut down. That’s capitalism.

Do you think Trump International Hotels cares about that motel that will leave the lights on for you?
Reverend · M
@SimplyTracie would I and should I brag about? Of course not.

But..

Should you complain about it because its not what you expect?
Should you complain if it took 2 cans of food to sustain you for the day and you were only given one?

It is just as wrong for one to nit pick and complain about something good thats done, as it is for the one who did the deed. Its six one way and half dozen the other.

(When i say you, i dont mean "you" in general)
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Reverend If you have 100 cans of food and you gave me 10. Your friend had 2 cans of food and gave me 1. Who should I be more grateful to? You who gave me 10 cans or your friend who gave me only 1 can of food?

Corporatists are greedy and if they cannot pay more than $7.25/hr perhaps they should close. Because I have a feeling that the CEOs are flying on their private jets to Hawaii while you’re cleaning their toilets for $7.25/hour.
Reverend · M
@SimplyTracie are you saying we should embrace socialism?

There is a reason why those people are rich, and ir has nothing to do with giving people what they can afford to give. Its paying a person the appropriate wage according to the job.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Reverend I never knew about this disparity until I got interested in politics.

Here where I live, there were always jobs. If you wanted a job today out of high school, $18/hr is yours if you’re interested. If you’re lazy, McDonald’s pays)12.00 an hour. Dish washer at a restaurant pay $15/hr minimum to start.

I was surprised when I heard Trump created jobs. Like WTH?
Reverend · M
@SimplyTracie You must live in a place that pays well. Around here you'd be lucky to get 9.00 an hour in fast food and a dishwasher at a restaurant the same. Last time I checked servers only made 2 dollars and something an hour because of tips here. TRUMP per sey didn't create anything, its how the economy is being handled that makes jobs available.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Reverend Those in a tipping category gets $12/hr minimum. Servers, bellhops, valets all go home with fat pockets.
Reverend · M
@SimplyTracie thats amazing! We must really live below the means here. Of course your price of living is probably much higher as well.
