You're probably right in that their expressed reasons are not genuine. Whenever I hear and atheist justify his position, it's always the same thing: the Bible has contradictions, the Bible supports slavery, the Bible condones rape... But most of the time, they don't even know where it [i]says[/i] these things. So all we can really know about why they are atheists is that it's something they don't want to reveal
