I Am Not An Atheist

In 2000 the US President announced the sequencing of the human genome. “Today,” he said, “we are learning the language in which God created life. We are gaining ever more awe for the complexity, the beauty, and the wonder of God’s most divine and sacred gift.”
After he had spoken one of them world’s leading scientists, Francis Collins, echoed this sentiment: “It’s a happy day for the world. It is humbling for me, and awe-inspiring, to realize that we have caught the first glimpse of our own instruction book, previously known only to God.”
Collins says that ‘for me the experience of sequencing the human genome, and uncovering this most remarkable of all texts, was both a stunning scientific achievement and an occasion of worship.‘
Of course Collins was just repeating what many scientists have said before him, that in experiencing the wonders of creation we are looking at the language of God. Because some people are illiterate In understanding creation language does not mean to say that God is not speaking. The great scientist Kepler said that in studying creation we are merely thinking God’s thoughts after him. Other great scientists like Newton and Maxwell and Faraday thought the same.
Atheism is of course an escape from reason. Atheism is saying that design needs no designer, that personality can be created by non-personal forces, that intelligence can be in created by non-intelligence, that non-living can create the living, that nothing can create something. Why I cannot be an atheist because it defies logic

I’m not an atheist, but not a Christian either. I do have a question, though. If design needs a designer, who designed the Christian god?

Well as he exists in another dimension these things tend to be beyond our understanding@Imsleepy

Yes, I agree. It’s the thought the gives me the most trouble with a theological belief. @Speedyman

Let’s face it we don’t understand about 96% of the natural universe let alone God! @Imsleepy

Logic would dictate that you wouldn’t refer to someone who is opposed to intelligent design as a support for your argument of design?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Nope. You need to read what he says. He just knows that such design is impossible without some form of creator, just logic@Shutterbug

@Speedyman but logic in design Would require intelligence?
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Yes but ID is a technical term for a theory which Collins does not adhere to. He believes in an intelligent Designer though who created us@Shutterbug
