If you don't believe in God why do you argue with one's who do

I am happy with my belief. It's been serving me well. If a person doesn't that's fine. But disrespectful comments make no sense. And not everyone's beliefs are the same. So why generalize. Live and Let live

Because religious myths have done untold harm to the world and millions of its inhabitants, either by driving individuals or groups to extreme acts, or by preventing people from living their lives to their full potential.

Those of us who are acutely aware of the dangers feel a strong responsibility to try to limit the damage.

That’s why.

@Adeptlinguist religion is like a gun. Depends on the person holding it. But by itself does nothing
@Axeroberts I cannot conceive of any circumstances under which it is desirable, for example, to indoctrinate children into religious nonsense when they need to survive in the real world and teaching them that a fantasy sky fairy is real does not help in that regard!

It is immoral.

@Adeptlinguist if I had your outlook I would agree. 🤣
@Axeroberts so we simultaneously teach children biology and that someone came back from the dead? How does that make sense?
@Adeptlinguist … and that our sky fairy is the real one, but those other sky fairies are fake 🤡
It’s patent rubbish. How can you possibly believe it?
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@Adeptlinguist I certainly don't believe what you are talking about
@Axeroberts So what do you believe. And why?
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@Adeptlinguist through an experience is why. But not in any religious way
@Axeroberts So you don’t believe that “Jesus” was reincarnated, you’ don’t believe that your “god” is the one true “god”?
@Axeroberts What experience?
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@Adeptlinguist no Jesus. No religion
@Axeroberts So why do you believe in a sky fairy?
And by the way there is nothing “disrespectful” in ridiculing irrational beliefs.
What is disrespectful is expecting irrationality to be respected.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@Adeptlinguist goes both ways.
@Axeroberts But it doesn’t! Irrationality commands no respect.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@Adeptlinguist with irrational beliefs like yours it doesn't make sense. And I am pretty sure you are not open to any other ideas so I don't want to waste my time.
@Axeroberts What have I said that is irrational?
