We can assume he lit a spark
And in an instant an area in space became so dense and so hot what man calls a singularity occurred (an eruption / explosion of sorts)...... And microwave radiation light was released which lit up the entire universe. Light invisible to the human eye, if man could have seen it, it would have been extremely bright - with the right equipment man can see the remnants of that light even today.
