What Is Atheism

Atheism is, etymologically speaking, a completely rational term. Atheism is to theism what apolitical is to politics. The terms mean not interested in or a part of theism or politics. Atheism is the antithesis of theism.

Rationally atheism is understandable. It isn't easy to wrap one's mind around the creator, Jehovah God. Such a belief requires faith.

By definition atheism is nonsensical. A god can be anyone or anything. Natural, supernatural, person, place or thing, wood, stone, flesh and bone. Even, as Paul said, ones own belly can be a god. There are countless gods. It doesn't require belief, veneration or worship on your part. I don't believe in Zeus; I don't believe he ever existed; I don't venerate or worship Zeus, and yet Zeus is a god.

The definition of atheism as disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods. That's nonsensical.

So Zeus is an exception to:
A god can be anyone or anything.
Or does anything only refer to corporeal things? If so how does your particular god qualify?
@ninalanyon Anything and anyone doesn't mean everything and everyone. Just because a person can be a god doesn't mean all persons are gods. God just means mighty/venerated. A stick can be a god, not all sticks are gods. A god is anyone or anything that is considered a god to someone. Just because Jehovah is a God doesn't mean that he is your God. Just because Zeus is a god doesn't mean Zeus is my God.

Back in the 1960s in the UK and US Clapton was God, Frodo was God. Clapton a real person, Frodo a fictional character.

Only if the solidus in mighty/venerated means or. In which case the concept is so wide as to be pretty much meaningless.
@ninalanyon It isn't meaningless! What was the shoot (sprout/twig/branch) that Jehovah said the idol worshipers were thrusting in their faces in Ezekiel chapter 8? A stick? Why? Because it represented the penis. Jesus was a shoot of David? Why? Because a stick is a branch. Isaiah 11:11: "Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root." Ezekiel 8:17: "Look, they are even putting the branch to their nose! "

@AkioTsukino Those aren't gods. They are religious symbols and fetishes.

You seem to be suggesting that those two things cancel out deification. They don't. In fact they both are closely associated with it.

@AkioTsukino Associated with, of course. But they are not themselves the deity.

Well . . . I'm bored. And you?

Obviously a false statement. Everyone knows David Bowie is god.
