I have been away because

I got hurt. I went to a large hotel in New Orleans for a free trip. I don't gamble but i went to the gym. I was using the resistance bands and it came off the hook, throwing me backwards.

I had surgery because the wrist was shattered. 9 screws, a titanium plate and 2 doctors put me together again.

Not sure if you have ever been to the Big Easy but the ER was unbelievable. I am sedated with Fentanyl, laying on a gurney in the aisle. 50% of the patients were in shackles,25% were drug overdoses and the other 25% were mental illness. i was the only normal one there.

the Nurses were unbelievably kind and gracious to every single person. I was telling my granddaughter that it was a scary place. the head nurse heard me. She said that she didn't realize how bad it was to us outsiders...

on another note, i didn't hear a thing from the hotel and it took me calling a manager to get anywhere. Then another week for the adjuster to call.

New Orleans have great hospitals and medical services. My parents used the Ochsner flagship years ago. One of the first hospitals to include a con-joined and integrated hotel. Was great for out of town patients who could check into the hotel on the day prior, have a prep visit by the staff who would explain things and the hospital staff would come get them in the morning. Meanwhile, accompanying family could wait in the comfort of the hotel and patients discharged to the hotel. That integrated patient handling was like the Cadillac of patient care for out of towners.

Sounds like a serious wrist injury and some future rehab to get everything back to normal. Or even close to normal reflecting on my own broken arm and hand bone experiences.

New Orleans is also one of the biggest crime cities in the US. Like so many other big US cities, the New Orleans inner city was abandoned and the people moved to beyond the neighboring parish lines. On my last visit we took a pretty extensive drive around the city and it looked like the city is still shrinking :(

Oh my ! I was wondering where you were.
I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through.
I do hope you're feeling better and on the mend ?

I'm so glad it wasn't worse.
