@Bumbles And the difference?

1) There are no six surfaces (4 walls, ceiling, floor) in space to reflect that light back.

2) And you don't understand how crucial the vast emptiness is.

BUT WORST
3) Do you realize how much light you are getting from being 2' from a bulb v. MANY light-years from VERY distant stars? The Sun gives us light

a) when we point toward it, or
b) when it's reflected by, say, the Moon or Venus or orbiting satellites.
