As a Christian, I reject a young earth. I believe that God created an Old Earth 6,300 years ago. Let me explain:

The earth was created with a backstory or an apparent age. Think about how He created Adam; as a fully grown man on day one. In reality, Adam was one when God created Him, but he probably looked like a 30 something year old man. Now, if scientists were to have observed and studied Adam in the garden, they would logically conclude that he is 30 something, but in reality, he was merely created with an apparent age or backstory. I believe that there is a uniformity in this apparent age concept and it applies to the earth, all things on the earth and the entire universe. So, the earth could very well have been created with a millions or billions of years backstory 6,000 years ago.

It is a lot less complicated than young earth creationists make it out to be. If they understood this basic idea, they wouldn't spend so much time trying to find all of this young earth evidence. On the other hand, Theistic evolutionists also miss the mark so they overcomplicate things and jump into a pool of confusion in trying to compromise and make the Bible fit with the Darwinian monkey men fairytale for adults.

Also, another thing: 6,300 years is not young. That is old. It is quite a long time.

"For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of OLD, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:......." 2 Peter 3:5.

Following your reasoning, God could also have created a 4 billion year old world and all things (including you and me) one minute ago, and we would never find out. Your God is a trickster!

Open your spiritual eyes. You're wrong. God is not a trickster. He is perfect, just and Holy. Just because the earth has a backstory does not mean God is trying to trick us; that is an illogical conclusion. What makes you think our main purpose here is to understand everything in the natural world anyway - Like how old the earth is merely through limited scientific tools? You can't possibly know that with such incomplete and faulty tools anyway. Also, If God gave us an earth that completely matched His Book to a T, then we would be forced to accept it, without any free will, and since we would see it as fact, we would have no more cholice, which would make God a dictator holding us on strings in the sky. We would be nothing more than angelic robots on repeat. That would be a cruel God, but yet we have a loving God who cares about freedom and choice.

@helenS On the other hand, someone has tricked you. The god of this world (Satan) has blinded you. "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." 2 Corinthians 4:4. I plead with you to recognize and escape the trance you have been lulled into.
