Clearly, the luxurious, indulgent, escapist Victorian vision of the ancient world. Do you know the artist? Surely a follower of Alma-Tadema.

@irrelevant It must be Alma-Tadema. The style is very distinctive and I’m sure I recognise the model.

I don't believe this is one of Sir Lawrence's productions. I have multiple books illustrating them and this is unfamiliar. His lines are always crisp and clear and these are distinctly sfumato.
