Over worked piece of artwork anyone done this

Hi everyone am currently painting a wolf and I am working on one of the eyes try and match the other one. I have a tendency to over over a piece too long that it gets to peeling the layer of the watercolour paper. Is there anyone out there that does this I am the only artist in my family. I am currently fixing it with paper glued down on top of the old layer hoping to paint over this. Here is the good eye

Oh many times, it's a good idea to glue a piece of paper on top of the broken paper. I would advice that next time you draw eyes, make both at the same time. When you sketch, draw them at the same time and then take a picture of them, to see if they still look right flipped. When you color them, work on both eyes at the same time again. Work stroke by stroke on each eye instead of finishing one at once, this has worked really well for me.

I love the wolf btw, it looks great! (=

Yes, it’s extremely common.

What you need to remember is that watercolour is a fast medium. You can create a beautiful work of art and a fraction of the time would take to do an oil or acrylic painting. Watercolours work best when you work fast.

Very often I keep working and reworking pieces far too long.
