The Rubens landscapes

Art brings oneself to higher plains alright. Just think of the Rubens landscapes. For me personally, they represent well my county of Flanders. The nature and sense of being Flemish that is. During his long career, being much more than a mere painter, Rubens painted landscapes both great and small in scale, but the great panoramic format was one he developed with remarkable verve later in his life. It was then something that he did when he was thus more mature and settled. It's also a sign of him being catholic and taking what he sees in the pure enjoyment of life's moments.
