Art brings oneself to higher plains alright. Just think of the Rubens landscapes. For me personally, they represent well my county of Flanders. The nature and sense of being Flemish that is. During his long career, being much more than a mere painter, Rubens painted landscapes both great and small in scale, but the great panoramic format was one he developed with remarkable verve later in his life. It was then something that he did when he was thus more mature and settled. It's also a sign of him being catholic and taking what he sees in the pure enjoyment of life's moments. How beautiful is my country? That there in the Rubens landscapes 馃挄

@val70 I drew a lot as a kid, and decided to start painting a couple months ago. You Tube has a lot of teachers. I volunteer at The Las Vegas Farm. They rescue barn animals. I started by fixing gates, and enclosures. then did a little painting, and now committed to doing a 75ft mural. So I am learning as fast as I can. 馃槃
@val70 this is my 3rd painting at home that I'm working on. It took a while just to figure out how to paint clouds, Still need to add trees, shadows, and extend the lake.
@daydeeo I just finished that little painting. I will post a picture tomorrow. Unfortunately I coved up most of the mountains with big trees in the foreground, and changed to water, and added a little dock.
@daydeeo I'm currently working on a 75ft mural. I'm just learning to paint by watching you tube videos, and having a great time. Is it normal to just start laying down color without a plan? I started this 10ft section last Saturday, and do not know how to proceed,
