I Love Art
I suppose I should qualify this. I like some art.
When it comes to painting, sculpture, or drawing:
I really have a deep appreciation for and love of realism. I love sweeping artistically captured landscapes either real or a captured wisp of the inner vision of the artist's creativity. I really appreciate the ability to paint a scene fiction or fact with obsessive dedication to detail.
I have never really understood modern art, particularly those that follow along the cubism trend or to a lesser extent expressionism. I have never understood the value of the modern art works that seem to require very little talent and produce very little besides splashes of indecipherable color. Those are the sorts of artwork that we expect small children to produce and then refine as they get older.
Writing:
In writing I can appreciate both the beautifully descriptive and the exciting engrossing work of a talented storyteller. Tolkien, one of my favourite authors, created a world so real I could touch it, so flushed out with its own history it is still studied. However, I will be the first to admit a read through the series can be challenging due to the detail and description slowing down the plot and development.
In music:
