I saw the portraits of Michelle Obama and Barack Obama and I have to say

Michelle’s portrait is so beautiful, the choice of color is nice on the eyes and her dress is lovely and goes well with her skin color.

But with Barack Obama’s portrait, a background should have been added but that’s just me.

When I saw these I thought that the President's was extremely lifelike. Looks like a photo almost. The First Lady's not so much (Clearly a painting)
@JohnnyBliss i just thought the same thing .
Which as an artist, is kinda funny.
Painting so well it looks like a photo is a bit ....pointless?
Not degrading the artists skill, just: if youre going to paint....make it expressive 🤷‍♀️ use the media.

The existence and grandeur of the portraits is far more important than small details.
@RedBaron Did you like Obama?
I did.
I was sad that he never had a sufficient majority to enable more further reaching changes.

@hartfire I voted for him, but that is irrelevant.

Conspiracy: They've left the background white on purpose, so we can easily make memes with Obama to annoy the trumpets 😌

Oh but he's a man. No one gives fancy background to men.
I’ve heard others say that too

Wasn't impressed with either. Not a fan of photo-realism, too cold and uncreative, so far as the President's. Mrs Obama's just looks amateurish to me.
