Will Art Decco or Art Nouveau ever be fashionable again?

I would love an off- white Jay Gatsby linen suit, matching Fedora and gold watch. Where would I wear that though?

Is Art Decco similar to Art Deco?😂😂
@Dlrannie I had a vague idea of the two but that more clearly defines them, I love visiting many of the old buildings in Los Angeles where there are some beautiful examples. Some of the theatres were more like ornate hotels than simply a theatre. Some have been beautifully restored. One example is the Bradbury Building that has been used for movie sets. Lot's of ornate wrought Iron and beautiful woods.

@Grateful4you Sounds good - if I ever get to LA I’ll have a look 🙂
@Dlrannie Sadly, much of the Inner city is over-run with homeless it's not the fun destination it used to be. I feel badly for the folks living there although many of them seem to be okay with the circumstances.

Tom Wolfe kind of made the white suit his trademar😷k..still Fedora?

just no white shoes after Labor day a fashion faux pas
@bookerdana It's been so long since I read the Holden Caufield book, I just remember how protective he seemed to be of his little sister not much else though.

@Grateful4you i could probably reconstruct the outline and much of the diaogue..its what a lit major DO
@bookerdana I respect that. I was so proud when I finished Don Quixote and my ex. said, "You haven't read it until you've read the original Spanish. DAMN. Or when I finished "Crime and Punishment" and Mike said, "That was hardly Dosteveski's best effort you realize"

Why not wear it on a luxury cruise down the Mississippi ?
@CharlesRomsey I think the idea of "royalty" is kind of silly but what do I know. I guess it pulls the tourist in and gives people a reason to visit places like Fortnam and Masons, drink tea with your pinkie finger pointing out and knowing the importance of being Ernest. Stuff life that.

@Grateful4you The Monarch is the Head of State and has a serious constitutional role. I don't want what has been a friendly chat to turn into a political polemic but if you think about it who would you rather have has Head of State: Trump? Biden? Macron? Putin? Merkel? or Elizabeth, who has served this nation faithfully for three quarters of a century.
I agree that all the royalist flummary that the redtop media indulge in is crap: they miss the real point of it all.
@CharlesRomsey Thanks, you make an excellent point all things considered she has done rather masterfully in her role.

Napier is the Art Deco Capital of the World. In Feb 1931 an earthquake levelled the town 7.8 on the richter scale. Some 111 new buildings were constructed in the CBD between 1931-1933 and all in Art Deco. Highest concentration of Art Deco buildings anywhere in the world and a major tourist attraction.
@KiwiBird Wow! Interesting to know.

@Grateful4you In New Zealand.....to clarify.

I have a feeling that all kinds of 20s stuff is going to become popular again, if nothing else because the copyrights are expiring so it makes financial sense for companies
@plungesponge Hey there Plungie, it's been a long time. I hope you're right I love both styles which can still be viewed in some parts of Los Angeles and surrounding areas. A friend once took me to a Russian Orthodox church in Hollywood, he said, (Pointing to a mural of the Virgin Mary) Who do you think the model for the mural is he asked. I had no idea, then he told me, "Thats Loretta Young" I was floored.
Don't let some self-appointed "fashion police" make your choices for you! Wear what you want, wear it with confidence, and don't worry about what the nay-sayers think!!

This guy chooses his own style, and you can too!!!
ServantOfTheGoddess · 61-69, M
Wear it anywhere you want!! Clothing should be about comfort and self-expression for everyone.

New Orleans in summer months.

Just wear it. Don't worry about where it might suit some stuck up supposed fashion or style guru. Wear it wherever and when ever you fancy. Walk down the main street on a pleasant sunny day and you'll be guaranteed compliments.

They both are, as far as I'm concerned.
Make it happen.
@V00doo There actually is a Retro-clothing store where I live. I can buy Banana Republic clothes for a fraction of the original cost.
