@SW-User We actually have some stuff from a previous lineup. Unfortunately our trumpet and tuba player both moved and our sound is quite different now but we still play this song.
@Stark The drummer we picked up is just so goddamn good. Carrie and I can just guitar and banjo over top of us and he makes it sound a million times better.
@CountScrofula I always say a drummer makes or breaks a band… which in some ways is why Metallica is so amazing because Lars is probably one of the sloppiest drummers I’ve ever heard and somehow they are good in spite of him. It’s kinda crazy cause when you listen closely it’s Hetfield’s rhythm guitar that keeps time and Lars just follows him with hard hitting deep base drum. And even unique stuff like the double bass in “One” I will say he’s creative as far as sound but just very sloppy and can’t keep time worth shit. Luckily for him Hetfield does and and him and Kirk play tight as shit. Most bands need the drummer for time, but they seem not to, so he can just make cool sound and follow them.
@CountScrofula Yeah, my last band was so good like that. I was lead guitar and lead vocals. Our bassist was the best guitarist I had ever played with and totally reminded me of Flea from RHCP’s. He couldn’t read a lick of music but could play anything by ear and was able to play bass almost like lead (which your not supposed to be able to do) and still keep time. He filled up the sound and made my lead sound so much better than my average abilities. Our keyboardist was literally off the hook and could record a keyboard track and play live on top of it, kinda creating his own wall of sound. The rhythm guitarist was my boyfriend at the time Jacob and was easily the second best guitarist I’d ever played with. He was able to weave my lead into the bass seamlessly. And finally our drummer… probably the single best musician I had ever played with in general was so precise and drove time like a clock. He was amazing and probably the biggest dick I’ve ever known but you could not deny his talent. He made us all sound better and just more precise in general but he looked at us all like we were kind of sloppy and pissed we relied on him for time but I’m like that’s kind of your job, dude. I’d probably have been kicked out if not for my vocals and the fact that I wrote all the music and lyrics. I was easily the weakest musician in the group. Guitar for me is just the key to singing and I’ll never be better than decent. I just tried to not mess up and keep time. Ha ha. But I do got pipes.
@CountScrofula I really wish you could of heard us… we were so unique and the early 2000’s were totally primed for an industrial metal sound like us. I’ve still never heard anything that really sounded like us even since. It’s too bad my life exploded and it all went to shit. Every single member of my old band has found some measure of success in the industry except for me. Oh well.
