I haven't survived anything medical, but the lotus flower on my neck symbolizes rebirth to me. Part of it is because I don't want to go back to who I used to be.. but it also stands for a suicide attempt that I survived. I just don't usually tell people the second meaning unless I feel like getting that deep

Yes, I got the lotus flower meaning growing out of mud so much beauty and strength your other meaning very deep not easy to bare truth yet since you can it is a testament of commitment cause life is not easy & we have a choice stay strong everyday a new beginning. I saw something terrible when young & survived a not so gr8 past. I broke the silence by speaking out .To me it was freedom. The only way really to heal is to share your truth a story or just confront whoever it was or is. Be an example I can, so can you! Never easy. I know ppl had worse I remind myself. Life is a gift being alive is a miracle.

I'm happy to hear you grew & overcame your past. It's not an easy thing to do & many people never get there. It takes a lot of inner strength & self reflection & that itself can break you at times. Life is definitely a miracle. Because we could just as easily [i]not[/i] be here
