What are your thoughts on teaching a few kinds of stitches to fourth grade students in one class and then expecting them to

embroider an entire landscape in a week, and knit a scarf in a month?

Not everyone can master basic things much less skillful ones. I started embroidering before I went to school but never became as good as my other who could embroider a picture and make it look like a painting.

@cherokeepatti yes, embroidery is haaarrd. i always beat myself up for it and craft projects like these would make me despise art in general, and it really affected my self esteem too. now when i look back, i'm able to understand that i was just a normal kid, not particularly dumb, and it just wasn't possible for a 30 minute class to make us capable of embroidering a landscape and knitting a whopping scarf.
