Is God vital for a family or a curse?

I do not believe god has to be a vital figure in your family, it is definitely not a curse though.

A curse. I am speaking from experience when I say religion has torn plenty of families apart.

Both. It depends on the followers. God doesn't make people good or evil. People make God good or evil.

I think that for those that value having a guide for their life and the comfort that comes to them from faith in a being higher than everything it can feel vital. I think the only times it may feel like a curse is if what they’re being taught to believe is contradictory to how they feel they need to live their life or when abusive people use the concept of God as a fear tactic.
