That's just ridiculous. Most girls a lot younger than that are begging for it. The age of consent statutes are totally unrealistic and need to be changed. (BTW, I'm no fan of Matt gates).

I'm assuming this is beneath the age of consent where he did it so I'll work on that premise:
There are 2 ways to decide an age of consent, on a case by case basis or by having a specific age. The first is much too awkward to implement so the second is used. I know that makes for the argument that one day it's illegal and the following it's not but it's the only way to quickly and fairly implement a law on consent.
