Trying to find a woman even slightly on the dominant side is difficult at best. Possibly part of the generation I’m in? Has to be

Depends on what you consider dominant.
Are matriarchal societies lead by dominate women?
I don't believe so in the traditional sense, yet women do pick the men.
And before anyone says their has never been such a society, I give the Zo é tribe of Brazil as a existing example.
Not only matriarchal, yet a polygamous matriarchal society, that has existed for hundreds of years.
It's the society structure that determines the values. Not so called human nature.
We are a adaptable species. We can change.
