Problem with a Samsung S8 phone

A coworker of mine had a problem today with her phone. When she would go to charge it, she kept getting a message about moisture and to unplug the charger. She told me that a single water drop had hit the phone screen. The screen is cracked, and there's no screen protector on it.

My guess is that water got into the phone and caused some moisture. I told her to put rice in a bowl, and set the phone in it for at least 24 hours and see if the rice pulls the moisture out. I've heard for some people it works.

Any other ideas what my coworker could do for her phone? I suggested a wireless charger base, but not sure if that would work with a Samsung S8.

Press the power button and the volume down button together and keep hold of them until the phone restarts.
Won't probably fix the problem but should bypass the error and the phone will recharge.
Secondly clean the charge port out with a cotton bud hopefully it's just speck of crap in the the charging port.
