is this normal whilst playing a dvd on an old CRT tv

i have an old phillips widescreen CRT tv , connected to a sony dvd player by a scart lead......but when i play dvds the picture isn't perfect...........is this the norm do you think?

Probably. CRT screens had much lower quality than modern ones. It looked good when we didn't know what we have now, but going back is a big step.
