I Like Pokemon

Question for Pokemon people who grew up with the show and game. Is it just me or are these new Pokemon get weirder and more freaky?

I get that but some of their pokemon are very EPIC and COOL while many are like "Ehh I need to fill this space so here" You know? It is like why can't they all be that way.
