It is my firm opinion that our beloved animals know and sense more about us than our beloved people do.

There is zero question in my mind that Bailey knew you were stressed and tense and not mad at her.

Sometimes we fail our four-footed friends, just as sometimes we fail our two-footed friends.

Do you know who would be angriest about you beating yourself up over this?

Bailey.

@Mamapolo2016 thank you for your kind words - It really helps!

SW-User
sorry for your loss
I need to do that to my 18yr old but this wednesday I cancelled the appointment
I am struggling with the decision

@SW-User It is hard. Just spoil your pet, make him/her happy and feel loved... If you can do that an have him fall asleep feeling loved you have done the right thing... I know I will heal from this horrible pain and grief, but it makes me know just how very much I loved her...

You too will heal, it is painful but allow the grieving, I tried to supress it, it is much worse!

It’s never easy....I’m dreading the day when I have to part with my 15 year old dog (she has chronic kidney disease and nerve damage in her legs, but is not paralyzed). Losing a beloved member of the family is always difficult....I have been the strong one, not crying when a human family member died, but I was a mess when I had to have other dogs put down.
Hopefully posting this will be cathartic for you....Bailey would have wanted you to get back to feeling better.
