This is something that happened yesterday and I completely forgotten about until now

Because I always have shit to do.

I was just reminded by the security at work. Yesterday, after I changed to normal clothes, I decided to still check on a patient. Visitations are all after 4..

The large corridors had like three people visiting only. I got inside the patients' room. I checked on everyone in there not just my patients and asked a woman who is sleeping in there with her relative to help dress some of the patients. We have this in Algeria where we allow some people to guard their relatives and tend to them, after documentation and verification , of course.

Anyways, as I walked out, the door wouldn't close properly so i held it while they get dressed. A guy came over and asked why I am holding the door closed. Told me his sister is inside. I told him why..then he asks if I have a phone charger, I said no.

After few minutes I let go of the door thinking he will go inside to see his relative, and I went my way..instead he was walking behind of me like damn creeper!

I asked him what he wanted. He said he wants to ask me something. These are completely empty corridors, couple nurses covering each floor. It is empty and so silent. I say ask. He mumbles bunch of nonsense so I walk out while he is making no sense.

He still followed me in the hallway until the security guard showed up after seeing him on camera.

Now I wasn't really scared of him because it is my environment. And i doubt he knew I work their. Probably thought i am his age. He was in his twenties. He didn't say anything appropriate but he is obviously a little fuked in the head.

He is now banned and being investigated.

This isn't first time this happens. For some reason lot of men in algeria think the hospital is nice place to get séx or whatever they want from women. It is so rediculous.

You're precious, checking on your patients and others after work.

Thank you for keeping yourself safe from creepers.

I love you.
Yikes, that sucks and seems very bizarre. It sounds like it is more common in historically conservative and/or patriarchal socieites and exacerbated in areas with high youth unemployment too ... and perhaps entrenched by the specter of social stigma once again suppressing reporting even in areas where harassment is actually criminalized

The broader harassment dynamic seems like another global problem too

Yeah that's not right, I'm glad you're safe. Maybe he meant no harm or maybe he did but people who don't know how to act can still be just as dangerous. I'm glad the security saw.

That is awful. I have heard too many stories from women who have experienced something similar—being followed too closely to a hotel room or to their car in a parking garage.
