I never knew either grandpa. Grandma Frances, I admit, gave me the heebie jeebies, but I don’t think she was all there by the time I came around. I’m told she had a horrible temper, by today’s standards would have had her children taken away from her, but liked creative pursuits and played both fiddle and piano by ear. She died when I was 20. Grandma Elsie I adored. An easy laugh, a good cook, an amazing green thumb. She couldn’t read, but she knew more about life and survival than I ever will. She died when I was 16 and I miss her still.
