I'd Rather Get To Know You Than Small Talk

There's been a rash of people lately on SW who complain about people who "write too much" or "long stories" or/but if they have nothing to do, they log on and say things like "Hi" and nothing else, or say "I 'm bored - talk to me" or fill their entry with silly statements, questions or jokes.

As many people know, I am a writer by nature. I have many friends on SW (most of them holdovers who have moved on here from EP with me, the others met on here). If you object to the length of my post, or anyone else's, you are not obligated to read whatever we have to say. If you don't "know what to say" read the "Miscellaneous" posts, pick a topic someone else has written in it,post a response, and join in. Who knows, you could make a new friend. It's not necessary to chat about nothing at all. If I feel strongly about the topic, or am asked a question, or challenged in my belief, I will probably respond.

Let's not complain unnecessarily about each other. We're here to make friends. Empty chat gains us nothing.

Some topics need lengthy explanations. I know I am guilty of letting my responses stretch a little longer. However, people have short attention spans. I know that when I read something it has to really grab my attention or I'll end up chasing a butterfly.

I usually enjoy reading the responses to a post of mine,or someone else's to another post, so if I want to read it, or respond, I will read it in its entire length.

People complain about "hey" messages. They complain about long messages. Can't make 'em happy. 🙄

That's what made me write this. None of us have to read what others write. If you are reading it, and it's a bit long, the author has much to say and your are obviously interested in the subject.

Totally agree with such sentiments expressed by you. I hate people just typing "hi" or "Hey" . I not not like stories, I have enough real-life experiences that i am happy to share. I do not like one way conversations though. I like good grammar etc but understand word prediction does produce surprising words sometimes. I am never judgemental or use bad and impolite language.

Oh ya do it how you feel it for sure
