I Decided Last Night
To take the day off today.
It didn't matter that I had yesterday off...
It didn't matter that there will be a negative impact to my finances.
All that mattered when I made that choice was the way I felt like I needed today.
Yesterday, I spent the entire morning at the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
That started off with a 26 year old security guard telling me that I was rude after the lady at the door was rude to me.
She was looking at her phone when I entered and I just naturally went to get in the line for people with appointments.
She finally looked up as I was passing her and said to me sternly, with her hand held in the manner of a stop sign, "Can I help you !?"
So, I replied calmly, and with an amused smile, "I don't know..., Can you?"
Anyways, this guy gets on me and then is talking trash while I'm standing in line and he's just following me down the lane, and I finally ask him, "What is your problem, buddy? Why are you being an ass and trying to escalate? Why don't you just go back over there and do your job instead of trying to harass me?"
The whole thing was about 5 minutes of bullshit that happened at 9am...
Not the way I wanted to start the day.
I spent my afternoon with my daughter at my grandson's IEP meeting at his school.
Turns out that they have this place inside the classroom that they call The Blue Room, and that they may have been using it punitively, and coercively.
Xavier is 8 and autistic and my daughter was pretty upset by the descriptions Xavier was giving.
I told her last week to arrange a meeting with his team and I would attend.
"So..., you're the great and wonderful Puppa?" was how they greeted me once I was introduced.
Xavier, it seems has a lot to say about me in school..
When the team leader said that to me, I just said, "We should probably hold off on the compliments until after the meeting." I smiled when I said it and I tried to make it sound joking, but....
Having spent hours of my day already in a place like the RMV had definitely soured my mood.
But the meeting went well and my daughter seemed better having gotten to the bottom of everything and we all made a plan for going forward with Xaviers schooling.
But yesterday was a day with stress and frustration and I just thought, you know what, fuck it..., I'm taking tomorrow off.
So I have this psuedo- 4 day weekend and I think I'm going to try and fly my kite today before the storm rolls in tonight.
I'm on my 5th cup of coffee. Ate some toast, and I'm all showered and dressed.
I think a walk in the woods is a good way to start my day.
