@Magenta It's only not okay when people use it together with sarcastic comments or an open insult where there it would be absurd to smile if that was a face to face conversation. Otherwise it's a great simple emoticon.

@CrazyMusicLover Well, it's not my issue how others perceive. I personally use it exactly for what it was intended, a subtle smile.
