What is this experience called?

Imagine you go to work or school (which ever one you relate to most) and there's this one person whose presence makes you feel energetic and playful. You like when they're around. Whenever you talk to them, you feel happy and cheerful and you cant stop smiling. You find that you habitually look for them in crowds and if they didnt come to work or school, you instantly feel like the day will be a long one without their energy.

Now my more specific question is, how do you tell if you're experiencing a romantic interest in this person or just a need to have something positive to get you through being somewhere you dont wanna be but have to? 🤔🕵‍♀️

I wouldn't worry about labelling it.
I suspect it's more to do with the environment you find yourself in.

Sometimes we feel our school/college/class/workplace is oppressive and difficult. But if you have that one person who makes such an environment tolerable you obviously look forward to seeing them.

You make no mention anything remotely romantic about him nor whether it's reciprocal so it doesn't sound like that's a good place to be thinking

@Picklebobble2 That makes a lot of sense actually. This is good! Thanks for that.

@KazTheRunaway I've known this situation many times.
And it's good that you are aware of the difference.
Nothing worse than assuming one thing and it turns out to be the other
