Do you think if somebody is a Doctor of something ( has a doctorate, not medical doctor) that you should address them as Dr when talking to them?

For eg, if somebody holds a doctorate in history, or some other subject

It would be odd and meaningless out of the professional work environment. I'm a DMD and I wouldn't want to be addressed as doctor outside of work.

@swirlie Oh of course I came here to only stroke my ego and totally didn't say that to relate to the post. I don't know what your problem is, perhaps you have some issues with unfulfillment about yourself or something but please don't come and project your insecurities and hate boner on me.

@swirlie The only thing in denial here is your little person syndrome where you feel inadequate about yourself and you attack others to make yourself feel less bad. The only reason I mentioned that I'm a DMD is because that is RELEVANT to the post and because I can talk about this topic based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE even if I'm not a PhD.
Why do you feel the need to attack anyone with who has any sort of achievement in their life? What kind of a miserable sad sack are you that you can't abstain and it burrows in your mind keeping you awake? Why do you harbor this hate inside yourself? Are you some sort of failed student? If I wanted to boast I'd brag about the university I graduated in, the practice I'm in or how happy my patients are, you can check my other comments, I don't go around talking about being a DMD in posts that have nothing to do with that. So please take moronic nonsense, lube it up and insert it deeply into your rectum so you may finally calm down and not attack people based on your own misery.

@swirlie The experience is still valid, as both PhDs and medics are called doctor in the professional environment and I simply stated that I would find it awkward to be addressed in that way outside of work. The OP was specific in their request but that doesn't mean that they don't want opinion from others, it could be that they think medics could be called that way even outside of work. My, my you have such a strong desire to hide your own misery by attacking others, surely you have nothing better going on with your life so you this is what keeps you intact.

@swirlie Well you are, I certainly didn't go out of my way to find your comment and argue with you. Don't you have anything better to do but linger where you're not wanted?
