also from Brazil i need to gather up all of Clarice Lispector, and there's another biggie who's name eludes me now, i'll figure it out sometime
Marguerite Duras
The Lover, Wartime Notebooks, Practicalities: Introduction by Rachel Kushner Hardcover – Nov. 14 2017 - 504 pages
My only Duras possession is the film Hiroshima mon amour which she did with Alain Resnais, she also made her own films which aren't at all well represented in the english speaking home video market, once i tried to watch one on YouTube but .... yeah it never feels right to watch a movie on my computer screen
Murasaki Shikibu
The Tale of Genji: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) Paperback – Deckle Edge, Nov. 26 2002 - 1216 pages
the 1st novel in the 11th century .... Japan is an amazing place for all sorts of things, not ready for manga yet, i see a lot of Haruki Murakami around, maybe Kafka on the Shore too, but Genji, lord have mercy - in a movie trailer voice - "before there was Don Quiixote there was GENJI"
