I've enjoyed Gipsy Kings since first being introduced to them via their hit "Bamboléo", they have a unique sound, blending flamenco with Cuban timbales and more ☺

Grrr why does he have to be dressed like a matador?
@BlueGreenGrey

I grew up listening to many of Gypsy Kings' albums. I love their Greatest Hits album where my favorite of their songs are .....like : Bamboleo, A mi Manera, Jo-bi Jo-ba, Volare, Un Amor, Bem Bem Maria, Soy. Their guitar playing is also good.

I know, right? For anti-bullfighting people like us, that doesn't sit well. I think it's because the competition was being held in Barcelona,Spain, they figured (no pun intended☺) they might go with a Spanish theme...although bullfighting is not something that represents the whole of Spain as there is now only a small minority who still follow that atrocity.

But I have to say, this figure skating couple danced absolutely error-free. It's a beautiful choreography befitting the music, which was not the original music, but the video poster was spot on in deciding this music fit the dance better.
@LilMissAnonyMOUSE it's also a bit odd that his character is still human, but hers is reduced to an object (a muleta), though I get the movement metaphor. Surely even for a Spanish theme they could've developed another routine, even something flamenco oriented seems obvious.

It does indeed seem to be a flawless perfomance ... it seems to be a feat in itself just to have their side-by-side spinning in sync so that they look like mirror images of one another, particularly on a surface which I imagine complicates controlled and precise movement

Incidentally the figure skater Tara Lipinski used to live near here and got married here ... I think she has since moved to Los Angeles though
@BlueGreenGrey

Perhaps, although I do see the colors of the flag in her dress, red and gold( yellow is also used to represent it)She might have wanted to wear a typical Flamenco dress like these:

But I guess she knew she would probably get her blades caught in the skirt and make her trip all over the ice lol😂

Their synchronization is outstanding! With Pair Skating, no matter how beautiful the choreography is, if they don't perform the synchronized part well, it will automatically be considered a poor performance. So I admire the amount of hours these athletes put in to achieve that..that precision can only be achieved through many hours,days, weeks of practice. Not to mention the stamina these skaters need to maintain their energy from start to finish...especially the men who have to lift the women several times throughout their program. No wonder many end up huffing and puffing after the dance but amazingly, we don't see their tiredness while they perform.

I've seen Tara Lipinski's performances on video. She was good and very popular, she had a lot of followers.
@LilMissAnonyMOUSE ohh, figure skating in a long flowing dress would probably be catastrophic 😳🫣
@BlueGreenGrey

Oh, most definitely!

I don't know how female flamenco dancers do it without tripping while wearing these long dresses but somehow they've mastered wearing them and dancing at the same time 😊
@LilMissAnonyMOUSE then imagine having to coordinate salchows with playing castanets!
@BlueGreenGrey

Or a triple lutz ! Now that's what we can call multitasking lol☺
@LilMissAnonyMOUSE I'm trying to imagine listening to flamenco whilst bundled up inside a chalet, imbibing a piping hot winter beverage like mulled wine, in the Olympic village of the Andalusian Sierra ... not usually a setting I associate with flamenco brrrr 🤭❄
@BlueGreenGrey

Then you open the balcony doors and see this view of the Sierra Nevada in Andalucia's Granada..nighttime skiing down the well-lit slopes.

True, Flamenco is typical in the southern part of Spain. Which is why Granada is amazing, considering how the other parts of Andalucia are the hottest parts of Spain, such as Seville(Sevilla).
