I Have Hidden Talents

Greatest Rush...... In my GCSE year at school, they were taking photos for a new prospectus. I was being photographed in the music studio with a group of close harmony singers and it was all a bit, well, tame I guess. So we posed for the pics and as the photographer was discussing what else she could photograph that might be a bit different, I picked up my Fender (OK; Fender Squier!!!) and launched into Sweet Home Alabahma. Well, when I realised everyone had been stunned into silence and were staring at me mesmerised, I began to vamp it up a bit. Before I knew it, the photographer was snapping away and I was posing outrageously for her, and the crowds were gathering.

People at school knew me only as a clasical musician really, though I was into Blues and Country music in a big way on account of my Dad having been a keen Blues and R&B musician. In fact, it had only been with great suspicion and a bit of contempt that I'd been allowed to bring my kit into school to play for for the Lower school party where several of us Upper fifth formers were going to be the entertainment.

The cheers and applause at the end of the piece gave me the biggest thrill I have had before or since and I was seen in a completely different light after that. And I made the prospectus!

I love that song, though it's been out for years. I love to hear the original, by ? Leonard Skynard, and several other new versions, too. I'm fascinated that it made it across the pond. I thought people only listened to it here. PS, I've been to Alabama, Mountainbrook, near Birmingham, a few times, and loved it. I went to grad school in Fla (where the LS band was from). But when I'm not traveling, I reside in the western US.

Love how you write....

I travel some too, what ever it takes. I work from the front range,CO. Hmmm,Dubai? I've never been to a Muslim country, but just about everywhere else.

Then she and I life pretty close to each other. PS, I'm from Telluride, originally. Now I live near the big city, so I don't have to go so far to the airport...

I'm really enjoying your stories! This one in particular speaks to a drive that each of us has to express ourselves, our wants and loves, our talents and passions. What a great show of self! You give me just a little more courage to pick up my own guitar and pick out my fantastic melody :)

Great player... Ii is good you clarified you only love his instrument playing, I was getting jealous already ; )

However it would be as hot imagining you playing and playing an instrument even if it wasn't mine... hehe

On a separate note it is so hot to watch a very attactive girl jamming that sometimes we get frozen, wide eyed, salivating and the admiration only increases... is not easy to find beauty and talent together.

Maybe we could play something, I can really sing some Andrea Boccelli's and you play romantically **Escondido looks deep into Claudia's eyes while he gets air in and compresses diafragm...

Happy music

Great story you painted a very vivid picture. Do you still play? It's sad to let a talent lay dormant.

I wish I had even a shred of that talent. When I play people run screaming with their hands over their ears.
