promotion for achievement at work

why do people feel envious jealous if you achieve a promotion and they do not....
ive had to listen to snide remarks too

Money and perceived power.
They work hard too. They don't see how they are not as good as you, why didn't they get it. its not fair... blah blah blah blah blah...
Selfish ambition really.
it's not a bad thing, but it can be very unhealthy.
