Sober79

I have been sober for a little over three weeks now. Before that for two years I was living near a famous river in Egypt called DENIAL. I had convinced myself I could drink socially but I knew that that was not true, but I wanted so desperately to believe it. From December 2012 to October 2014 I was completely sober. I need to get back to that, so I can embrace life and get the most out of it, not slowly kill myself with booze and live numbly in an alcoholic haze. This latter statement is a bit of an embellishment, as I really wasn't terrible, but bad enough to stick out in social situations, always being the drunkest one. I blacked out approximately every eight weeks or slightly more frequently . My kids are now at an age where they are aware of such things, and I want to be a good example for them .
