The children were already playing jokes on Laurie, and Michael could saw her taking the phone, on the other side of the street. She was still there, on the Strode House.
And of course, he was hiding behind a tree, stalking and watching at her. He also would follow her steps and see to where she could go. Earlier Michael appreciated how she was decorating the house, with pumpkins. So she still liked to celebrate Halloween after all?
Then maybe she had the thought of him being dead for good.
And the Dr Samuel Loomis. Probably Laurie called him telepathically, because he was now waiting outside of her house, next to her car. Michael watched at him, cautious not to get discovered.
