I am a Welsh girl!
About Me About Me NotesAbout Me
Hello. Thank you for reading my profile. My name is Lili and I live in Wales. I have a very big family. I am the fifth of six children. I have four sisters and one brother. I am quite tall. 174cm. Chestnut hair, quite long in a pony tail. Only us two youngest ones still live at home with Mam and Dad. I have eight nephews and five nieces. My oldest nephew was in the same class as me at school. And he is older than me by six months. But I didn’t make him call me Aunty Lili at school!
Home is a farm 1000 feet up in the mountains of South Wales. Well, high hills surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. It is too high for cattle and too steep and too high for cereals. So we just have sheep. The rain makes sure there is plenty of grass. But the weather is severe in winter. We had the first ice of the winter the day I went back to college in September.
And I go to college. I go to the Art School. It’s part of Colegsirgâr, the college for our county. I started there last year doing Access. And now I am in my first year of the degree course which I love. It is a long day. First I have to go on the school bus to school and then the bus becomes the college bus and the journey takes two hours. But I either work or read on the bus. So it is not time wasted.
One day a week I am in school. I am doing my Maths Safon Uwch. I don’t know the English. I do it in Welsh. I do my college work in Welsh too.
I speak Welsh at home. I didn’t know English til I was 7 and we learnt it in school. All my school work has been in Welsh. Except for English lessons! The English teacher used to have a magic door to his classroom! You walk into the room and you speak English. You walk out and you speak Welsh!
I love sport. Swimming is my main sport. I compete. And I was chosen for Wales once and got bronze! I train every day at college and weekends in the pool in Llanelli. I also cycle. We have cycle paths which are part of Sustrans. The nearest ones are Route 4, the coastal path, and Route 47, an old coal line that winds its way up into the hills. I play netball for my school. Which is why I never want to leave school! And the whole family plays rounders in the summer. We play in a field with knicked traffic cones as bases! We cheat a lot, like move the bases when someone is running towards it. But it’s just hwyl a sbri and we end up in fits of giggles. I am giggling now thinking about it.
If you have read this far, thank you. Once I start writing I can’t stop! So you have done well. I have been on sw since it started. They invited me because I had been on ep before that and wrote loads of stories. I do write about a lot of things but if you want to know more about the things I have written in my profile, please message me. I love to talk!
