Heather Mason
Heather's given name is Cheryl Mason, the adopted daughter of the writer Harry Mason. When Harry escaped Silent Hill, Alessa, the Incubator, came back as an apparition and presented him with a newborn baby, which is both Cheryl and Alessa herself restored to one body again. Harry left Silent Hill with the baby and moved to Portland; however, they were attacked by a member of the Order there and Harry killed him in self-defense.
In an attempt to throw the cult off (should they come and look for both him and the child), he renamed her Heather, dyed her hair blonde and relocated to another city. Harry eventually settled in the Daisy Villa Apartments with Heather.
One day, while running an errand for her adoptive father at the Central Square Shopping Center, Heather accidentally falls asleep and dreams about Silent Hill. She finds herself wandering through the nightmare version of Lakeside Amusement Park. While she is walking along tracks she is run over by a roller coaster. When she awakens from the nightmare, she exits the burger joint and calls her father, letting him know that she is on her way home. However, when Heather is about to leave the mall, a man named Douglas Cartland attempts to talk to her about her "birth." Heather, thinking Douglas a stalker, walks away from him and exits the shopping mall through a bathroom window to avoid confrontation with Douglas. However, the alley past the window is blocked and she is forced to enter the shopping mall again through the employee's area. Heather comes across a monster and manages to kill it with a handgun, shaken by this since she knows that monsters don't exist.
As Heather wanders through the monster infested mall, she encounters a barefoot woman dressed in all black with flowing platinum blonde hair who reveals herself as Claudia Wolf. Claudia tells her about a paradise created by God and Heather's "true" self. Heather is confused and comes down with a serious migraine as Claudia departs, as if she was trying to remember something from long ago. While descending an elevator, Heather soon plunges into the Otherworld version of the shopping mall. She tries to convince herself that everything is just a dream. After defeating the Split Worm in the core of the mall, it changes back to normal.
In Silent Hill at Jacks Inn, Douglas tells Heather to meet him once she explores Brookhaven Hospital.
While searching the hospital, Heather is phoned by Leonard Wolf, Claudia's father, resentful of his own daughter and willing to help Heather stop her. However, upon the two meeting, Leonard becomes hostile to Heather when he realizes she is not a member of the Order. Heather kills Leonard and takes the Seal of Metatron with her. Upon returning to Jacks Inn, she meets Vincent once more, who tells her to go look for Douglas at the Lakeside Amusement Park. As she explores it, Heather re-lives her initial nightmare, only this time she jumps off the tracks in time to avoid the oncoming roller coaster. She then finds Douglas, wounded from a confrontation with Claudia. Having bonded with him, Heather tells him to hang in there as she goes off to look for Claudia.
In the amusement park's carousel, Heather is confronted by the Memory of Alessa, who attacks her with various weapons in an attempt to stop the birth of God. Heather beats her and she vanishes, allowing Heather to make her way to the chapel. In the chapel, Heather meets Claudia and Vincent once more. Vincent urges her to kill Claudia, whereupon Claudia stabs him twice, killing him, telling Heather that the Seal of Metatron will not prevent the birth of God. Heather ingests the Aglaophotis inside her pendant, which promptly makes her vomit out the unborn God fetus; however, Claudia ingests it and gives birth to it, which brings about her demise. Heather then confronts the partially-formed God, killing Her.

During her journey to school, Heather is questioned about her identity by Douglas Cartland, a private investigator hired by the cult, but Heather avoids the situation. At school she meets Vincent, another student who she runs into after the school transforms into a nightmarish alternate reality. After school she again sees Douglas, and calls her father. After the call, Harry is abducted by an unseen force. Later, Heather waits at a mall for Harry when reality again shifts, unleashing monstrous creatures. After evading the monsters Heather encounters Douglas who is killed by a monster and dragged away. After returning to the real world, Heather finds Douglas' corpse and flees.
Heather returns home and finds a message painted on the wall: "Come to Silent Hill". Accompanied by Vincent, she collects the amulet and the pair flee to Silent Hill as police arrive. There, Vincent reveals that he is cult leader Claudia Wolf's son, sent to bring Heather to the cult, but he is unwilling to because she is the good half of Alessa. The town transforms into the nightmare dimension, and Vincent informs Heather that she is the one responsible for altering the reality and directs Heather to Claudia's father Leonard Wolf, who is locked in an asylum. Vincent is grabbed by a monster and Heather is knocked unconscious.
She wakes up in the ash-shrouded Silent Hill and meets Alessa’s mother Dahlia. Heather asks about her father’s whereabouts and the other half of the amulet, but Dahlia reveals that Heather is the manifestation of the good side of Alessa's soul, then tells her to take cover as the darkness approaches. Meanwhile, Vincent is denounced as a traitor by the cult for trying to save Heather. Claudia then orders her men to take Vincent to the asylum to be "cured".
In the asylum, Heather meets Leonard, who tells her that Claudia locked him up because she thought he was infected with darkness. Leonard explains that the amulet's purpose is to "expose the true nature of things" and drives Heather's amulet into his chest, where its other half lies. The amulet reforms and Leonard is transformed into a monster, but Heather defeats him and extracts the whole amulet. Heather is then captured by the patients. The monster Pyramid Head arrives and fights off the patients, saving Heather. Heather finds Vincent strapped to a gurney surrounded by monstrous nurses. Heather frees him and they escape. The pair eventually arrive at the amusement park, where Harry is held captive by the cult. Vincent uses himself as a distraction for Claudia's guards, allowing Heather into the park.
Heather is confronted by Alessa and they fight for dominance, with Heather overcoming Alessa and absorbing her. Heather then finds the cult along with Claudia, Vincent, and Harry. Claudia says that Heather was brought back to not only destroy Alessa, but to serve as the incubator that will birth their god, who will cleanse the world of sin. Claudia touches the amulet and she is transformed into a monster, the same creature that killed Douglas and previously attacked Heather. She tries to kill Heather, but Pyramid Head intervenes and decapitates Claudia.
With the cult destroyed and Alessa's justice served, the ashes stop falling on the town. Harry chooses to remain in Silent Hill to find Rose. Heather and Vincent walk out of Silent Hill and back into the real world where they get a ride from a man named Travis Grady. He drives the pair away as several police cars and a prison bus travel into Silent Hill, and ash begins to fall.
