True, but also: leaving a cult is difficult enough with the backlash from within. Adding more backlash from the outside will only make fewer people leave.
We can keep them at a distance initially while still welcoming them, and work on that deconstruction and letting them closer later.
@NerdyPotato I get that. I truly do. And there is a ton of deprogramming that needs to happen once they "wake up". However, that is work that needs to be done with a therapist trained in coersive control and not the general public. The general public is not properly trained to help them or cope with them and it is hard to feel safe around someone who just recently wanted to cause great harm to them. The general public shouldn't have to do the emotional labor that these people definitely need.
