I’m Blodyn
About Me About Me
My name is Blodyn. I am 19 and I live on a sheep farm high up in the Welsh hills. I am one of six children. We are five girls and we have one brother whom we think the world of. I am number five out of the six and when my Mam forgets my name she calls me Number 5.
Just me and my little sister are on the farm now. The others live nearby with their own families. I have six nieces and eight nephews and another nephew to be born in March 2020.
I am in college. I’m doing a degree in Art and Design. It’s Multidisciplinary and I do Ceramics, Jewellery and Fine Art. I hope to be a jewellery maker when I leave. I am already designing my hallmark to register at the London Assay Office. Students get that for free.
I work one day a week in the school I used to go to. I’m a teaching assistant. I teach little groups of children who find Maths a bit hard.
I love sport. Especially swimming. I’m training to be a lifeguard at college. They employ students. So maybe I’ll be able to do that when I qualify.
I also love cycling but to enjoy, not as a sport. I have a town and country bike and I cycle along the coastal path at weekends in the summer. I love netball too. I was on the team in school. There is a team in college but there’s so much else going on. And we play rounders in the summer. On the farm. But I’m ashamed to say we cheat a lot!
I’m quite musical. I play the clarinet and piano. And love jazz. At college the other students talk about the singers and bands who are around now and I’ve never heard of them. But they never heard of Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane, Acker Bilk, Glenn Miller.
I go to church on a Sunday. It’s the parish church. It's Church In Wales. A bit like Church of England but the Church in Wales was separated from England back in 1920 something. I’d love to speak to Christians.
And we speak Welsh but if you want to message me you don’t have to do it in Welsh. Just whatever language you like. English, French, German. I learnt them all and now I’m learning Polish thanks to some of the girls I teach!
