[c=#003BB2][b]Ten years ago, on June 3, 2006, Rupbert was killed by a drunk driver, early in the morning while driving to work with two of his coworkers; just six months before his baby girl, Elizabeth, was born. [/b][/c]

He never got to see his girl. Never got to hold her and hear her call him daddy. And, of course Amanda never got any pictures of Rupbert and Elizabeth together. Until she met this talented artist, Jeremy Christopher, and mentioned that she would like to have a portrait done, somehow putting father and daughter into the same picture. He agreed to do it. It took several weeks as he is meticulous about getting it right. This is a hand drawn picture of Rupbert, the week before he died and of Elizabeth, when she was about a year old. The hands are Amanda's. He took a photo of them and drew them as a frame for the portrait.

Finally Amanda got her wish.

She is affected, of course. She knows her aunts and uncles, and her cousins, but not her daddy. And it was just incredibly bad judgment on the part of the drunk driver, and people keep saying, if only. If only what, I ask. If only he hadn't stopped for coffee at the drive through, he would have been there a few minutes sooner. So what? I ask. He couldn't have known that in advance. Maybe he would have got stopped at a red light, and still been in that place at that time. The only blame belongs to the drunk driver.
