Excellent news. It's a horrible thing to do to cats and completely unnecessary

YAY NOVA SCOTIA!!! I am happy to know this. Now if only other provinces and states will catch up and ban it everywhere.

I didn’t know a lot about declawing, but I wouldn’t do it, either.
I was told the story of an elderly woman who was given the option of declawing her cat or losing her rent-controlled apartment, because the cat wouldn’t stop scratching up the walls. She gave the cat to a shelter rather than have it declawed.
When I came along and adopted that cat I gave her plenty of scratching posts, and she allowed me to clip her nails regularly. I had her for the next 14 years, and she never even scratched me, never mind my belongings.

@bijouxbroussard Exactly... My cat has her claws and rarely scratches us or the furniture... it's just pointless and cruel.
